What's Really Happening

Columbus State Education Association Newsletter of April 19, 2003

CSEA MEMBER MEETING

There will be a short business meeting of all CSEA members on Thursday, April 24, at 3 p.m. in Nestor Hall Seminar B to consider a proposal from the Executive Committee to establish local dues and to form various union committees.

Two organizing drives and 12 months of negotiations have drained a significant portion of the Association's treasury, and with a contract in hand we need to re-establish sound finances. If the proposal is approved, local dues will be collected as part of annual dues payment or regular authorized payroll deduction beginning Autumn Quarter 2003.

We will also be forming membership, communications, political action and other committees to handle important internal functions. Two other committees will offer the opportunity to work with managers on unresolved issues related to intellectual property and the status of program coordinators and lead instructors. We appreciate those who have already volunteered and hope that each of you will consider how you can work with other faculty to build CSEA.

We urge all who have paid their dues to attend. Contact any of us if you have questions or want to put your skills into action.
