BARGAINING TEAM REACHES TENTATIVE AGREEMENT ON NEW CONTRACT; RATIFICATION VOTE SET

Last Friday, after 6 weeks of negotiations, your CSEA Bargaining Team reached tentative agreement on a new 3-year contract with the College.

CSEA negotiators concluded tentative agreements on issues including salary increases, assignments to the Delaware campus, and intellectual property rights as well as changes in grievance procedure, promotion and tenure processes, composition of faculty hiring committees, personal leave, pay changes for independent-study classes, the Distinguished Teaching Award, and guidelines governing Association business.

All CSEA members will receive a summary of the tentative agreements by email. Voting to ratify the tentative agreement will take place June 9, 10 and 11 (Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday of finals week) from 10 AM to 6 PM each day in Franklin 110. Votes will be tallied in FR 110 at 6 PM Wednesday, and any CSEA member may attend this vote count.

The entire Association extends its appreciation to the Bargaining Team: Darrell Minor, Amy Brubaker, Steve Abbott, Gil Feiertag, Ingrid Emch, and Kevin James, as well as to recorder Judy Anderson, who kept detailed notes of negotiations on behalf of the Association.

CSEA leadership also wants to note the good faith that marked the bargaining by College negotiators. The College’s negotiating team—VP for Human Resources Tim Wagner, Deans Dr. Polly Owen and Dr. Jack Cooley, and department chairs Dr. Garry Fourman and Dr. Mary Vaughn—showed an openness and willingness to compromise that made contract talks productive.

MEMBER MEETING NEXT MONDAY, JUNE 2

There will be a meeting for CSEA members next Monday, June 2, at 3 PM in Franklin 110. In addition to approval of next year’s budget, members of the Bargaining Team will review the tentative agreement and answer your questions about the various articles and their impact on your work over the next 3 years. Make time to attend and gain enough understanding of the tentative agreement so you can cast a fully informed vote to ratify a new contract.

CSEA FINDS EXTRA PAY FOR 6 FACULTY

In reviewing faculty salaries as part of collective bargaining, CSEA’s Negotiating Team discovered that 6 faculty members in Career & Technical Programs have been underpaid during the past academic year. Each faculty member had not received the pay raise that went into effect last July 1, and the back pay of approximately $1,500 will be added to upcoming paychecks.
